RECEIVE LOCAL EMERGENCY INFORMATION TEXTED TO YOUR PHONE OR E-MAIL ADDRESS!

The Waterford Fire Department has opened up an account with an organization known as “Nixle” – the website is www.Nixle.com. (A link to this website is also located on the www.waterfordfd.org website.)

Once you go to the website, clink on the “Citizens – Register Here” link. You will then be able to add in a home and work location, and then check local agencies from which you would like to receive information about late-breaking news. Text notices will be sent to your e-mail address and/or cell phone.

In the event of an emergency – such as the wind storm we experienced a few years ago – the Waterford Fire Department will post notices to the Nixle website listing general emergency advice, roads that are closed, and so forth. The St. Johnsbury Sheriff’s Department, for example, recently has posted notices about streets being closed for First Night, as well as water-main breakages.

There is no cost for this service (except for usual text charges on cell phones, depending on your plan) – so we encourage you to sign up!
